🎮Gameplay Basics
What is TraceBlazer?
TraceBlazer is a free one-stroke puzzle game where you draw a single continuous path that travels along every edge of a graph exactly once. The concept is rooted in the mathematical principle of Eulerian paths, originally explored by Leonhard Euler in the 18th century. It is playable for free in your browser at traceblazer.com and is also available as a native app on iOS and Android.
What is a one-stroke puzzle?
A one-stroke puzzle presents you with a graph — a network of dots (nodes) connected by lines (edges). Your goal is to draw a path that covers every single edge exactly once without lifting your pen and without retracing any edge. You can visit nodes more than once; the restriction is on edges only.
Where do I start drawing my path?
You can start from any node that has an odd number of edges connected to it. If all nodes have an even number of edges, any node is a valid starting point. A solvable puzzle will always have either zero or exactly two odd-degree nodes. If there are two odd-degree nodes, those are the only valid start (and end) points.
Can I undo moves?
Yes. In Classic Mode and Daily Challenge, you can tap the undo button to step back one edge at a time. In Timebreaker Mode, the undo button is available but costs you time, so use it carefully. Hack Mode does not allow undo.
What happens if I make a mistake?
If you retrace an edge or reach a dead end before completing the puzzle, you can tap the restart button to begin the puzzle again from scratch. In Classic Mode this has no penalty. In Timebreaker Mode, restarting resets your time for that puzzle.
Do I need to finish at a specific node?
Not always. If the puzzle has two odd-degree nodes you will automatically finish at the second one after starting at the first. If the puzzle has no odd-degree nodes, you can finish at any node — including the one you started at.
🕹️Game Modes
What is Classic Mode?
Classic Mode is TraceBlazer with no time limit. Solve each puzzle at your own pace. When you complete a puzzle you advance to the next difficulty level, which has a more complex graph. Classic Mode is tracked on its own leaderboard and is the best mode for learning and improving your graph reasoning skills.
What is Timebreaker Mode?
Timebreaker Mode adds a countdown clock to every puzzle. The timer starts the moment you tap your first node. You must complete the one-stroke path before time runs out. Finishing quickly and at higher difficulty levels earns more leaderboard points. Each successful solve adds bonus time to subsequent puzzles in the same session.
What is Hack Mode?
Hack Mode is the most extreme TraceBlazer challenge. The puzzle graph is shown clearly for 3 seconds and then it warps and distorts, making the edges hard to see. You must complete the puzzle relying on your memory of the graph layout. Hack Mode awards the highest points per puzzle and is available to registered accounts only.
What is the Daily Challenge?
The Daily Challenge is a single puzzle that changes every day at midnight UTC. Every registered player sees the exact same graph, so your score directly competes with every other player who played that day. Playing the Daily Challenge every day without missing builds a streak that earns you exclusive achievements and profile badges.
How does Multiplayer work?
In Multiplayer, two or more players race on the same puzzle in real time. The first player to complete the one-stroke path wins. You can use Quick Match to be paired with a similarly rated opponent automatically, or create/join a room to play with friends using a room code. Multiplayer uses an ELO rating system — your rating rises with wins and falls with losses. Free accounts can play 5 games per day with up to 3 puzzles per game; Premium unlocks unlimited games with up to 10 puzzles each.
What are Community Puzzles?
Community Puzzles is a feature where players design and publish their own graph puzzles for others to solve. Free accounts can create up to 2 puzzles total and play up to 3 community puzzles per day. Premium accounts have unlimited creation and play. All published puzzles are visible to all registered users.
👤Accounts & Progress
Do I need an account to play?
No. You can play Classic Mode in Guest Mode without creating an account. However, Guest progress is saved only on your current device and is lost if you clear the app or switch devices. Creating a free account unlocks cloud save, the global leaderboard, multiplayer, daily challenges, groups, friends, and achievements.
How do I create an account?
Tap "Sign Up" or visit traceblazer.com/register. You need an email address and a username. After registering, verify your email and you are ready to play with a full account.
Is my progress saved across devices?
Yes — if you are signed in. Your level in each mode, your scores, achievements, and friends list all sync to your account and are available on any device where you log in, including the web app and the iOS and Android apps.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
Visit traceblazer.com/forgot-password and enter your registered email address. You will receive a password reset link within a few minutes. Check your spam folder if the email does not arrive.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account in the app under Profile → Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and permanent — all your data is removed within 30 days. You can also request deletion by emailing support@samprino.com with subject "Delete My TraceBlazer Account".
Can I change my username?
Yes. Go to your Profile in the app and tap the edit icon next to your username. Usernames must be unique. There may be a cooldown period between username changes to prevent abuse.
🏆Leaderboards & Scoring
How is my leaderboard score calculated?
Your leaderboard score is the cumulative total of all puzzles you have completed in a mode. Each puzzle contributes points based on its difficulty level. In Timebreaker Mode, remaining time is also factored in — faster solves earn more points. In Hack Mode, a higher multiplier applies because the mode is more difficult.
What is the difference between weekly and all-time leaderboards?
The weekly leaderboard shows scores accumulated in the current calendar week and resets every Monday at midnight UTC. It gives everyone a fresh chance each week regardless of how long they have been playing. The all-time leaderboard is permanent and reflects your total score since you started playing.
What is the Multiplayer ELO system?
ELO is a rating system that adjusts your score based on the relative rating of your opponent. New players start at 1200 ELO. Beating a higher-rated opponent earns you more ELO than beating a lower-rated one. Losing to a much higher-rated player costs fewer ELO points than losing to a lower-rated one. This keeps matchmaking fair and competitive.
Why is my leaderboard rank different on different modes?
Classic, Timebreaker, Hack, Multiplayer, and Daily Challenge each have their own separate leaderboard. Your score and ranking in one mode does not affect your position in another. This lets you specialise in the mode you enjoy most or compete across all of them.
